- 1st visit to Citi Field (MLB Ballpark #22)
- 2nd different ballpark watching the New York Mets
- 3rd different ballpark watching the Chicago Cubs
This game was the fourth of the seven-day, seven-game East Coast trip. I drove straight from my hotel outside of Boston for a day game in Flushing. Generally, I prefer to park somewhere away from the ballpark and take transit but, because of the timing of my trip and my hotel reservation on Secaucus, NJ, the parking lot at Citi Field was, unfortunately, my best option and it was a $40 option to park.
Again, I would meet up with Ian from Canada a second time to hang out before the game for a bit.
Section Selection
- Section 103 (lower level right field)
Sometimes, I will actually buy a ticket directly from the team website and will do so if the deal is right. In this case, the Mets ran a no fees promotion before the season began that made buying from them directly a sound option.
The section in right was shaded at the start of the game. As the game progressed, the shade kept falling further back and, in this extra innings game, the presence of the sun was more pronounced.
Highlights of the Game
This final matchup of the series went 11 innings. The Cubs took a lead at the top of the 11th but the Mets came back in the bottom half with a Francisco Lindor double that score the Mets’ final two runs.
From right field, we saw Starling Marte throw a bullet to home to get the final out of the top of the 11th.
Ballpark Food of Choice
- New York Pizza
If you are going to get pizza in New York City, DO NOT get it at the ballpark.
Apparently, any other choice of food would have been better and Citi Field has a huge variety of foods.
