Oakland Coliseum sits just south of downtown Oakland near the junction of I‑880 and the BART tracks, a sprawling multipurpose stadium that once served as the long‑time home of the Athletics.
Opened in 1966, the venue became synonymous with A’s baseball for more than half a century, hosting everything from World Series runs in the 1970s and late ’80s to the team’s final seasons in the East Bay. Its broad, circular design and massive upper deck gave it a distinctive, old‑school feel, while its location beside the arena and transit connections made it one of the most accessible stadium complexes in California.
Today, the Coliseum stands as a landmark of Oakland sports history and the former home of the Athletics.
